THE DEGREE OF DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY WAS OBTAINED BY PRACTICING PHYSICIAN AND PROSPECTIVE SCIENTIST PAVLO LAKATOSH

On December 6, a graduate student of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology No. 1 of the National Medical University named after O.O. Pavlo Lakatosh of Bogomolets successfully defended his thesis for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the field of knowledge 22 “Health Care” in the specialty 222 “Medicine”. The dissertation student devoted his scientific work to the study of new aspects of the prevention of massive bleeding in pregnant women with placenta previa.

The public defense of the dissertation took place in the conference hall of the administrative building of the O.O. NMU. Bogomolets In the presidium – members of the One-time Specialized Scientific Council, well-known obstetrician-gynecological scientists headed by the head of the council, Professor Vasyl Benyuk, in the hall – employees of the post-graduate and doctoral studies department, colleagues, friends and relatives who came to support the young scientist at a critical moment.

The dissertation is a fragment of the research topic of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology No. 1 “Modern technologies for preserving and restoring women’s reproductive health in conditions of changes in the structure of obstetric and gynecological pathology.” The young scientist aimed to reduce the frequency of massive bleeding in pregnant women with placenta previa by intraoperatively using the method of compression of the lower uterine segment during cesarean section, which reduces the volume of blood loss and the duration of the intervention. The obtained results have already been implemented, in particular, in the clinical practice of the Perinatal Center of the capital. The proposed method of treatment is protected by a patent of Ukraine, and the research results have been published in 6 scientific papers.

Professor Borys Ventskivskyi, Pavlo Lakatosha’s scientific supervisor, noted that the dissertation’s scientific work is extremely relevant, because its results provide an opportunity to prevent massive blood loss, avoid obstetric complications, and improve the effectiveness of medical care for pregnant women with placenta previa. Pavlo has already proven himself as a qualified doctor and promising scientist.
