As part of the cooperation of the National Medical University named after O.O. Bogomolets and the Center for Emergency Medical Assistance and Disaster Medicine of the City of Kyiv, specialists of NMU will give thematic lectures for visiting teams of emergency medical assistance in the capital. The first lectures have already been held and such events will be held on a permanent basis.
The other day, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine No. 3, Professor Oksana Vygovska, gave a lecture on the topic “Meningococciemia”, in which she focused on the clinical manifestations of meningococcal infection and meningitis, the method of primary diagnosis of meningococciemia by emergency medical doctors at the pre-hospital stage, and also answered numerous questions from the audience. . At the event, the algorithm of providing medical care to children with meningococcemia at the pre-hospital stage was considered step by step, the peculiarities of the course of the disease in young children, adolescents and adults were analyzed. We analyzed the most common mistakes at the pre-hospital stage and their causes, analyzed different situations and chose the optimal tactics. Different types of vaccines to prevent meningococcal infection were also discussed.
Cooperation between NMU named after O.O. Bogomolets and the Center for Emergency Medical Aid and Disaster Medicine continues. This format of cooperation is implemented on an ongoing basis. In the near future, NMU experts will hold lectures on botulism, leptospirosis, catarrhal syndrome and its practical aspects.
We are sure that the acquired new knowledge will help in everyday work, because emergency medical aid teams must always be ready under any conditions and circumstances. Periodically taking advanced training courses, attending practical seminars, sharing experiences at trainings and listening to theoretical lectures are the basis of medical professional skill.
