FOR NMU STUDENTS, THEY DEVELOPED A MEMORIAL RECORDING BODILY INJURIES CAUSED BY RUSSIAN AGGRESSION

As part of the All-Ukrainian Law Week, the Department of Forensic Medicine and Medical Law of the National Medical University named after O.O. Bogomoletsa prepared for “International Human Rights Day” reminders about the actions of students when they received physical injuries as a result of Russia’s armed aggression.

Globally recognized value is human life. The full-scale war that began in Ukraine on February 24, 2022, resulted in injuries and deaths of both military personnel and civilians. Therefore, the recording of bodily injuries caused as a result of hostilities for the purpose of documenting war crimes remains an important and urgent issue. In conditions of shelling or bombing, after receiving minor injuries, some victims do not even go to medical facilities, or they believe that the process of fixing injuries is long and difficult. However, they forget that the recording of bodily injuries is an important aspect in documenting war crimes.

Thus, the Ministry of Health of Ukraine took the necessary measures to facilitate access to medical care for everyone in the controlled territory during martial law, in the event of an injury, where there is a possibility of full functioning of medical facilities and doctors, regardless of the place of registration and an existing declaration regarding the receipt of medical services.

On the basis of the above, the Department of Forensic Medicine and Medical Law of NMU has developed notes concerning both the actions of students in the event of physical injuries received by them in the places of hostilities, and the legal assessment in the event of harm to health as a result of armed aggression of the Russian Federation.
