DOCTOR-SURGEON WITH COMBAT EXPERIENCE CONDUCTED A MASTER CLASS IN TACTICAL MEDICINE
Almost 150 people registered to participate in the master class on tactical medicine, which was organized by the Society of Young Scientists and Specialists of the National Medical University named after O.O. on December 5. Bogomolets Students and young scientists were interested in the topicality of the topic of the event and the opportunity to receive practical advice from a surgeon who has repeatedly visited the combat zone and passed a true baptism of fire, providing medical assistance to soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Mykola Korotya is a graduate of our University, an assistant at the Department of Surgery with a course in emergency and vascular surgery. For four years already, he was periodically in the conflict zone with the occupying Russian troops as part of the Mykola Pirogov First Voluntary Mobile Hospital – he provided them with first aid and provided qualified medical support to the wounded. Full-scale enemy aggression caught him in Chernihiv Oblast. From the first days of the war, he was part of the territorial defense of the region, and later in the “Hospitaliers” battalion. Having completed training in tactical medicine, Mykola founded a special unit for medical purposes – “SKLIF”, inviting the best colleagues from various fields of medicine to join him. Today, they have at their disposal a modern autoreanimobile, equipped with the necessary equipment for maintaining the vital activity of the human body and other leading medical equipment.
The speaker shared his personal experience with the participants of the event: how to act correctly in difficult situations during enemy shelling and bombing; how to stop bleeding when injured; revealed the algorithms for providing first aid in combat conditions. Using specific examples from his own experience, he demonstrated the optimal actions of a doctor in combat situations.
The second part of the master class was full of practical information – all participants practiced the skills of applying tourniquets, tourniquets, bandages, as well as performing other medical manipulations aimed at saving human life.
