The scientific and practical conference “Emergencies in clinical practice”, which took place on November 10-11, became another joint event of the National Medical University named after O.O. Bogomolets, the Academy of Internal Medicine and the Polish Medical Society in Ukraine named after A.S. Svintsitsky Every time, its organizers respond to current problematic issues of modern medicine, inviting leading experts in the field to discuss them. The conference aroused considerable interest in the scientific community and practicing doctors.

The conference was aimed at increasing the level of knowledge regarding modern approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of emergency conditions, the implementation of guidelines based on the principles of evidence-based medicine into clinical practice. In addition, it is included in the List of measures of continuous professional development of medical and pharmaceutical workers.

Seven sectional meetings were held over two days. Practically, scientists of O.O. NSU took an active part in the work of each of them. Bogomolets “Emergencies in gastroenterology” – the work of the conference began with a discussion on this topic. Corresponding member of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, professor of the Department of Surgery No. 1 Mykhailo Zakharash spoke about modern approaches to the treatment of patients with acute complications of ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease. To this day, inflammatory bowel diseases remain an extremely urgent problem of modern gastroenterology and proctology, and patients need treatment in specialized departments where there is the necessary equipment and considerable professional experience of doctors. Specialists from other well-known medical institutions of Kyiv and Zaporizhzhia joined the discussion of gastroenterological topics.

The Acting Head of the Department of Internal Medicine of the Faculty of Dentistry, Professor Halyna Solovyova and Associate Professor of the same department Ihor Svintsitsky participated in the work of several sections and spoke on current topics in hepatology, rheumatology and cardiology. Both are co-organizers of the event, headed by the NGO “Academy of Internal Medicine” and the NGO “Polish Medical Society in Ukraine named after A.S. Svintsitsky”, respectively.

There was an active and interesting discussion on the issues of providing emergency medical care to patients with an endocrinological profile. In this section, two scientists from NMU spoke: Professor Andriy Kvachenyuk and Associate Professor Maksym Prystupyuk, who highlighted the aspects of diagnosis, treatment and prevention of emergency conditions in hyperparathyroidism and diabetic foot syndrome.

The largest number of reports related to emergency conditions in cardiology, such as hypertensive crises, myocardial infarction, venous thrombosis, and heart rhythm disorders. The multidisciplinary discussion with the participation of representatives of various specialties aroused incredible interest among the participants and, accordingly, a significant number of questions to the experts, each of which was thoroughly answered.

The work of the conference was completed by a sectional session devoted to emergency conditions in general medical practice, during which a large number of listeners joined, because the principles of diagnosis and treatment of community-acquired pneumonia, severe bronchial asthma attacks, sleep disorders and panic attacks, etc. were discussed. Of the four reports, three were presented by specialists of our University – associate professors Dmytro Dobryanskyi and Lilia Martynova, as well as professor Olena Haustova.
